Dr. Donald (Doc) Hagen was one of the founding board members for The Columbia Community Foundation. He served on the Board of Directors for 14 years and formally resigned late 2021.
Doc made Columbia Township his home for more than 55 years where he raised his family and served the community. Doc was passionate about education and served as the Superintendent for Columbia Local School District for more than a decade. He gave back to our community by being an active member of Columbia United Methodist Church and was a member of the local Kiwanis Club here in Columbia Township until it merged with the Brooklyn Chapter. Doc also sat on the Board for Southwest General Health Center.
In honor of Doc’s contributions and his lifetime commitment to our community and schools, we established the Annual Dr. Donald Hagen Memorial Scholarship.
Last month, Doc’s son had the privilege to present the scholarship in honor of his beloved Father. The awarded recipient was Elise Wagner from Columbia High School in the amount of $3,000.
Congratulations Elise and we will forever remember our friend and community activist Dr. Donald Hagen.
